Heather Blackmore
Licensed Marriage and family Therapist Associate, Child mental Health Specialist
There are times in our lives when we need to reach out for help. As a marriage and family therapist my education and experience has taught me to identify areas that are causing distress to individuals, couples and families. You may be having feelings of inadequacy or being overwhelmed, in our anxiety driven world. These are normal for the human experience. It is at these times when counseling can help us out of the negative cycles in which we feel trapped. I believe that although our lives are influenced by past experiences, our present does not have to be defined by them.
Just as the body has the ability to heal physically, the mind can also heal from psychological trauma. I believe that every single person has a powerful story to share, and heal from. As a therapist, I view each client as a whole person and strongly emphasize positive support and empathetic understanding within a nonjudgmental and safe environment.
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy states that life is a journey and like every great journey, it has its ups and downs, certainties and uncertainties. If you or someone you know is experiencing distress, therapy with a marriage and family therapist (MFT) can help. MFTs are trained in systemic or relational, therapy and believe that throughout life we exist in a number of relationships that directly and indirectly impact our well-being. Our relationships with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors, influence and create our individual experience.
I n addition to working with couples and adults I am credentialed within the State of Washington as a Child Mental Health Specialist. If your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harming or possible suicide ideation I can help your child sort through their experiences, helping them to gain insight into their behavior/thoughts and provide them with tools necessary to move forward.
I believe the client/therapist relationship should be a good fit for therapy to provide best outcomes. Therefore, I offer 30 minute free consultations in person or over the telephone. You may contact me by phone (360) 328-1239 or email counselinghb@gmail.com. I look forward to meeting with you.
